This trip is designed as an introduction to the Western Hajar mountain range in the Sultante of Oman. Visit Jebel Shams to experience mountain lakes, Wadis and Oman’s Grand Canyon “Wadi Nakhur”.

Packing list:
The Essentials: Ankle support hiking boots, thick woolen socks, sleeping bag, sleeping mat, headlights (with spare batteries) and reusable insulated water bottle (2l)
Nice to Have: Sunhat, gloves for summertime, lip balm and sunscreen, bug spray/ repellent, camera / gopro with chargers, extra batteries, toiletries, fresh clothes and sandals / flipflops for the camp

Thursday -
Meet at Husaak centre Muscat at 11 AM. After a safety briefing the team will set off to Jebel Shams, “Mountain of Sun” is located 240km from Muscat in the Western Hajar Mountain range. This popular landmark is the highest peak in the Gulf, standing at 3009m. Upon arrival set off on the IMAX hike, a short but enjoyable 1 hour each way hike to reach a viewpoint which offers spectaular mountain scenery. Set up camp, eat dinner and introductions around the fire.
Friday -
Breakfast & pack up camp. Set off on the Balcony Walk hike, a 200 year old trail which leads to the abandoned mountain village of Sab Bani Khamis. Return to the vehicles and drive to Wadi Damm. Upon arrival set up camp and then enjoy an optional swim.
Saturday -
More exploring and swimming in the wadi before packing up camp and returning to Muscat by 1 pm.
