On the road, you will discover a magical desert landscape. Just before arriving at the Fayoum Oasis visit the Karanis historical site:
It is an ancient city in which Sobek, the Crocodile god, was worshiped. It contains two temples: a Greek temple that has the particularity of presenting ogival doors and a Roman temple. You will see the rooms of priests with walls to the pretty structure. As you walk quietly through this historic site, you will enjoy baths with bathtubs, vestiges of houses, olive oil presses and cereal grinders that have defied time.
It is a totally desert landscape where the ruins emerge from the sands …
Arrival at the Oasis of Fayoum. At the entrance, there is the obelisk of King Senousert dating from around 1845 BC. It is the agglomeration center of the Oasis.
Lunch in a typical restaurant on Lake Qaroun, the largest natural lake in Egypt (Egypt has five!) In a very pleasant setting.
isit the Pyramid of Hawara: located southwest of the center of the Oasis. It is the tomb of King Amenemhat3, built in 1797 BC.
A little north of the pyramid is the civil necropolis that was discovered in the 19th century, with most of the famous portraits of Fayoum, made between the 2nd century. BC. JC and the 3rd century AD. These portraits were often painted during the lifetime of these people, hence the youth of faces ..!
The visit of the Pyramid to El Lahoun : located 10 km from the pyramid of Hawara, it was built around 1800 BC. In the 1920s, an archaeologist made an extraordinary discovery between the two walls that support the pyramid: the treasures of Princess Sit-Hathor-Init, some of whose pieces are currently on display at the Egyptian Museum in Cairo.

Can you do the Pyramids in one day?

Plan on spending a minimum of three hours at the Pyramids of Giza. This gives you enough time to go inside one of the pyramids, visit Panoramic Point, and snap a photo with the Sphinx. A great way to spend one day in Cairo is to visit both the Giza pyramid complex and the Egyptian Museum.
