Early morning, our tour guide will take you from your hotel in Luxor to El Kharga Oasis for driving around 4-5 hours. Upon arriving, visit the Temple of Hibis, the largest and most well-preserved temple in Kharga Oasis. Dedicated to the Theban triad of Amun-Re, Mut, and Khons, the temple date back to the reign of the XXVI Dynasty King Psammetichus II. Continue to the Al-Bagawat, one of the earliest surviving and well-preserved Christian burial grounds in the world. The Necropolis of Al-Bagawat consists of 263 mud-brick chapels dating back to 4th-6th centuries AD. You can see the Chapel of Pearl having figures of the Apostles on the domes and the Chapel of Exodus which has the well-preserved artworks including the Old Testament story of Moses. Next, you’ll have the chance to capture photos at the ruined Temple of Al Nadura, built during the reign of Roman Emperor Antoninus Pius (138-161 AD).
