Journey to the Enchanting Wahiba Sands of Oman

For those yearning to uncover the secrets of Oman’s desert landscapes, look no further than Wahiba Wilderness Tour. Your trip starts as we depart from Muscat, guiding us to the vast expanse of the Al Sharqiya Sands, also known as the Wahiba Sands or Ramlat al Wahiba. Here, the Omani desert unveils its grandeur in full. Rolling red and white sands create dunes that can soar up to 200 meters, their contours ever-shifting as the winds gracefully sculpt their forms.

Despite the limited flora and fauna that inhabit this arid terrain, history reveals that it was once home to the Bani Wahiba tribe, lending its name to the Wahiba Sands. Today, only a handful of Bedouin houses remain in this rugged wilderness. During our journey, you will have the opportunity to visit one of these houses and have conversations with the people who continue to embrace this challenging environment.

Your path will then lead to Wadi Bani Khalid, alternatively known as Wadi Hayer or Wadi Hawer an unexpected oasis amidst the desert’s rugged embrace.  Surrounded by date palm trees, this desert paradise reveals sparkling blue pools intertwined with imposing rock formations.

As the Wadi Bani Khalid tour unfolds, you’ll come to realize that it isn’t just a solitary location but rather an extensive area encompassing various villages nestled within the rocky hills. The Wadi’s pristine pools boast crystal-clear waters, with a stunning waterfall as a highlight. While some corners of the Wadi hold networks of tiny caves, these hidden gems should only be explored with a knowledgeable guide.

After an enchanting exploration of the Wadi, we’ll return to Muscat, enriched by the natural wonders we’ve encountered.
