One Day Safari Trip from Cairo
Breakfast at the hotel. Depart early morning from the hotel towards El Bahariya Oasis, approximately 400 km south west.
The tour begins with an exploration of the charming agricultural styled old town of Bawiti, where you will see their agricultural products including dates, olives, and mangos.
After lunch, a visit to the Temple of Alexander the Great (Egyptologists mention that the Greeks passed through this area while returning from the oracle of Amoun at Siwa Oasis). Visit the tombs of the Nobles and the Golden Mummies Museum. In March 1996 a guard riding his donkey from the Temple of Alexander stumbled into a hole in the sand which proved to be a tomb. This began an excavation which has subsequently led to the astonishing discovery of a vast necropolis containing possibly as many as 10,000 well-preserved mummies of Graeco-Roman date, some wearing spectacular golden facemasks. Bahariya, long considered to be a backwater in Egyptian history, has now become one of the most important archaeological sites in Egypt and famous all over the world for it’s ‘Valley of the Golden Mummies’.
